Notary for Notarization of Multiple Documents
A call rang into our offices in the mid morning of August 30, 2016. The caller was needing a Notary Public to notarize several document for them at some time during the day. This day just happen to be a very busy and overwhelming day, even at that point. We explained to the caller our already tight schedule, but ensured them that we would make it happen.
By the end of the business day, a notary was en route to Anderson South Carolina to notarize an Acknowledgment of Consent and a Specific Power of Attorney document for the caller.
South Carolina Vehicle Title Transfer to North Carolina
On the evening of Sunday, August 14, 2016, our services were called upon in which we witnessed the signatures for a South Carolina resident on the transfer of title of her vehicle to another party, a resident of North Carolina.
In most cases, a notary isn’t needed for such transactions. However, in some states, the notary’s sworn statement is written on the title transfer section to be completed with stamp/seal. When the title is void of this language, such with this case it is necessary to attach an Individual Acknowledgment. An individual Acknowledgment is a notarial form that verifies that a person or persons appeared before the notary or acknowledges that they did indeed sign said document.
This vehicle title transaction took place in Mauldin, SC.
Notary for South Carolina Vehicle Title Transfer & North Carolina Title Reassignment
On the evening of Sunday, July 24, 2016, the witnessing of the signatures for a South Carolina notary on the transfer of title of her vehicle to another party, a resident of North Carolina. The transfer of the title had taken place days before by the seller signed in the wrong place. Hence the notarization of the new signatures on the North Carolina Title Reassignment for issued by the NC DMV.
If you know anything about in-state vehicle transfers, you know that it is not necessary to have this document notarized. However, in some other states, the notary’s sworn statement is written on the title transfer section to be completed. When the title is void of this language, it is necessary to attach either an Individual Acknowledgment, a notarial form that verifies that a person or persons appeared before the notary.
It should also go without saying, a notary public cannot notarize a document on their own behalf.
Vehicle Title Transfer
There are extra requirements for North Carolina residents who enter into South Carolina to purchase vehicles to take back to their home state. In North Carolina, it is a requirement to show the notarized signature of the Seller within the transaction.
